This is really where we are standing now, as a community, dear friends! Because it is now 2019, and the second decade of the twenty-first century ends soon. And these words, written in 1995, are searching for souls that seek enthusiastically, with real Michaelic courage, to build on the earth the new etheric body of the new Michaelic impulse of this century.

If you want to create the new anthroposophical concepts and representations concerning the etheric School of Michael in our time, I must refer you again to this small book, The Spiritual Event of the 20th Century, in which the activity of the School of Michael in the etheric is described in some detail. There my task was to describe the major saving operation of humanity and the earth during 1933-45. But now we have to think about this activity, as the archetypal activity of the Michaelic school that we have to learn to do on the earth. What we took part in, in the etheric world before our present birth in the second half of the last century, that remained unconscious until now, must be brought in the coming decades to full consciousness and full actualization on the earth, in the new school and movement of spiritual science. Because, dear friends, as we said in the previous lecture, it is the task of the future School of Michael on the earth, to recreate and actualize this activity consciously on the earth in the coming decades, in conjunction with our partners in the etheric Michaelic school.

If you contemplate in this sense our final words in the second lecture yesterday, about Ita Wegman’s search for the new Christ experience in the dry and externally lifeless fall season in Jerusalem in Michaelmas of 1934; if you have taken deeply into your hearts her words, when she describes so intimately her experience of the germination of His etheric forces through the first, earth awakening and fertilizing, rain, you will realize how spiritually exact our esoteric perception is. And you will begin to experience the global resurrection of Anthroposophy and the new etheric Christ impulse as a universal reality, and you will dedicate all the forces of your free etheric hearts to do what is necessary in order to pave the Michaelic way that would lead humanity upwards, from the deep abyss and grave in which it has lived since 1933.

I concluded the Foreward to the German translation of The Spiritual Event of the 20th Century with two communications offered by two honest and selfless pupils of Rudolf Steiner, concerning his post-mortem spiritual tasks. The first communication is from Ita Wegman’s notes to a lecture in London on Rudolf Steiner’s birthday, 27 February 1933, in which she relates Rudolf Steiner’s answer to her inquiries about the continuation of the impulse of the Christmas Foundation Conference. Ita Wegman asked Rudolf Steiner: ‘Bloom at the Christmas-Conference.
